I have the ediag plus which is exactly the same device but I cant get it to work on my iPhone 10 plus max or my leono M10 2 gen tablet

Any thoughts on the reliability of the toroidal transformer @ 240v? I heard some other YTubers mention that running a 220v toroidal at 240v can cause premature failure of the transformer.

Questions from a novice: 1.) How do you know what power supply to buy? I've been to FNIRSI's web site and no info is provided. And no mention of it here in this video either. 2.) I think I'll need the JBC 245442 chisel tip as I plan to use this for through-hole PCB work. Can I order this unit with just that tip?

What is told at 2:25: should you connect your oscilloscope and the circuit under examination to same common ground or left them both floating, otherwise you can discharge floating common of circuit via the grounded common of the oscilloscope if the difference exceeds 1000V (or versa)?

Quite common when checking how hot the internals of a power transformer are getting if there is no buried temp sensor. Had to do it a few times during testing for CE marking. You need to know how close your max power demand gets the internals of the transformer to the declared max temperatures. Using the temperature coefficient of the copper wire to determine temperature was quite interesting. Even more fun when someone from a CE test house was watching over your shoulder

Quite impressive for such a simple and low cost design. Maybe they are leading the way and you'll see some ultra high performance AC only station.. Hard or impossible part is coupling the thermocouple sensing to the tip while keeping it electrically isolated though.

I really appreciate your soldering iron reviews. Cheers, SDG. I bet inside these cartridges it’s like an old hakko 936 iron with a tip put over a ceramic heating element. But in these cartridges, the heater is friction fit and sealed inside. These tips could have a PTC thermistor in series with the heating element. That might explain why the heater resistance seems so low when cold. I recently read about the non disposable ‘flavoured addiction sticks’ [that V word youtube doesn’t like]: some do use the heater coil resistance alone for temperature feedback.

On some schematics for stations they put the thermocouple in series with the heater, measuring the temp by making a pause in the heating and taking a reading. Can't remember where it was, the TS80 perhaps.

On my FY6900 (100MHz version), when I cable one of the signal generator channels over to the integral frequency counter (not shown in this video), it reliably shows the same duty cycle numbers. But when measuring either of the internally generated sine waves, the counter shows a duty cycle if 59.6% or something like that. I have noticed the same thing in some other videos of this model, all of them slower speed versions. I wonder if it is a bug....it does not seem to be due to the sine waves having a DC offset or anything like that........

Bought one of this recently, no issues with the control unit but the soldering tips quality isn't good. Four tips presenting random open circuit error messages and the C115-IS tip is short circuited. Horrible customer service based on an AI chatbot whom never answer your questions and when you manage to talk to someone from the store they tried to say it was my fault due to warming up the tips without tin or solder, how is it possible if the shorted one was never been hot? I am very disappointed with this store, they are trying to push me to order more products from them to get an spare to replace the damaged tip. I won't return the full item due the base is solid and the handles ok, but will buy some original JBC tips to replace the bad quality ones they sent.

Kupiłem niby fajna. Ale zainstalowałem aplikacje na PC podłączyłem stację przewodem USB C i pokazała się aktualizacja ;). I tak już zostało, stacja przez 5h nie reagowała na aktualizację ciagle 0%. Po wyłączeniu stacji i włączeniu stacja na wyświetlaczu pokazuje updateding... i nic się nie dzieje. Musze odesłać do Chin. A byłem taki szczęśliwy gdy ja dostałem i włączyłem. Niestety uważam że to jednak za duży bajer a Chinczyk nie dba o soft dobrze. I teraz mam trupa nie stację :D

Yes Yes have real transformer but then connect GND to soldering tip to negate the advantage of transformer. Half world has TN-S wiring system with no real ground.
